Strength & conditioning coach, Mark Ginther visited the team at Elite Boxing to tell us about his new book, K.O. Power – Complete Strength Training for Devastating Punches, Kicks Throws. Mark has worked in the U.S., Japan, and Thailand training top fighters such as the UFC’s Mark Hunt, and K.O. Power is the result of his over 15 years’ experience in the field.
Mark explained that although most fighters are very serious and dedicated in their technical and tactical training, too many take their strength & conditioning for granted, or perform routines that are counter-productive (e.g. too much training volume/over-emphasis on endurance). Fights can be won by outlasting your opponent, but It’s explosive power that ends fights in the first round, and explosive power and be developed through the proper application and harmonization of skill training, strength training, and endurance training.
